Indonesia is a land of many islands, and many islands mean even more beaches. Are you headed to Indonesia this year? Or just dreaming about a trip in the future? Either way, you’ll need to have a bucket list of awesome beaches to visit! From peaceful solitude to bustling tourist attractions to world class surfing, here is a list of the 10 best beaches in Indonesia. You need to visit these at least once in your lifetime.

1. Ora Beach

Ora Beach isn’t easy to get to, but it’s definitely worth the trip. This Maluku beach is the perfect place to spend a day or a week. The water is a stunning sapphire blue, and there are endless things to do. A favorite pastime here is snorkeling—there are a lot of beautiful things to view under the sea! The coral reef is fantastic. As is everything else here.

2. Pok Tunggal Beach

Yogyakarta has a lot to see, but the best thing to do there is visit Pok Tunggal Beach. The beautiful cliff overlook offers a gorgeous view of the area, so be sure to stop there before hitting the sand. This isn’t a good swimming beach, but it is beautiful and it’s a perfect place to relax and watch the crashing waves.

3. Goa Cina Beach

In Malang, you’ll find the perfect place for a beach afternoon. Although this beach isn’t very good for swimming, it is awesome for beach strolls and cultural architecture. This is a popular place to relax on the sand, as well. When you go, check out the nearby temple. There is a pretty green islet off the coast, which is the perfect backdrop for vacation photos.

4. Tamban Beach

Tamban Beach is not too far from Malang City, making it the perfect getaway for a day trip to the beach while you’re vacationing in the city. The people who live near this beach enjoy maintaining many of their traditions, so a walk through the surrounding settlements is a great way to get to know the heritage and culture of the area. Tamban Beach is also a great place to go if you like facilities at the beach, since it has bathrooms and even guest houses on the beach. Surfers often stay here, because the waves are ideal for long and exhilarating rides. You can also go past the waves and enjoy a variety of other water activities.

5. Nglambor Beach

This popular beach is good for swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. A huge reef blocks the big waves from the beach, which makes an ideal place for snorkeling and seeing the wildlife. Many fish have moved on due to heavy tourism, but there is still plenty to see. If you’re staying in Jogja, make the three-hour drive to this beach for a great day in the sun.

6.Trikora Beach

Trikora Beach is actually a collection of four different beaches. The most popular one is Trikora Beach Four, the biggest and most beautiful of the beaches. None of the beaches are very crowded, although there are shelters for rent and places to get food. Although swimming is not allowed during the monsoon season, the rest of the year offers great wind surfing. Many people enjoy deep sea fishing off the coast.

7. Pink Beach

Pink Beach, located on Kanawa Island, is one of the most beautiful beaches you’ll ever see. Business men with commercializing interests have not yet descended here. You can have the whole beach to yourself, if you’re lucky. The reason for the name “Pink Beach” is the color of the sand. Flecks of red coral mixed in with the white sand give the beach a rosy hue.

8. Jimbaran Beach

Bali is known for being an incredible destination. Pretty much all of its beaches here are beautiful, but Jimbaran Beach is one that really stands out. This beach is a favorite of celebrities, probably because it’s easy to hide away and just enjoy a relaxing beach day in solitude. It’s also lined with luxury motels, restaurants, and nightlife venues. Famous or not, this is an ideal getaway!

9. Dreamland Beach

Head to Kuta for a dream come true! Dreamland Beach is good for beach bums and watersports enthusiasts. You can rent a chair, if you like. Many people also enjoy relaxing in the restaurants, where the waves are safely at a distance. The best part of this beach (and what really makes it famous) is the surfing and body surfing opportunities in the big waves.

10. Drini Beach

Come here for the perfect sunset view. There is not much here, so you won’t have to worry about your view being spoiled with watersports or buildings. The water is calm, which makes it nice for swimming. If you’re in Gunung Kidul, you can’t miss this place! There’s no better place to get away from it all and image the Indonesian coast as it must have been in ancient days.
