New tourism investment in Myanmar
PEARL Laguna Resort, a subsidiary of Thai-based KR Commercial and Property, is building a US$15 million five-star resort in Southern Myanmar.
When it opens in December 2012, the resort will be the largest tourism development in the Tanintharyi Division. Located in Myeik's Yebone ward, the yet unnamed resort will open in phases. Some 60 rooms will open first, while work on the second phase, involving 40 more rooms, will start next year.
There will be three room categories - standard, suite and superior suite - a convention centre, meeting rooms, restaurants, a pool, gym and shopping centre with duty-free shops.
