Indonesia gets more flights during Lebaran
SOME 161 flights will be added on regional routes by eight airlines to meet increased demand during the Lebaran (Hari Raya) holiday season in September.
These flights have been approved by the Indonesian Ministry of Communications.
The extra frequencies, which will inject an additional 75,532 seats, have been given to AirAsia Malaysia, Indonesia AirAsia, Cathay Pacific, SilkAir, Singapore Airlines, China Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Garuda Indonesia.
The frequency boost will be available for seven days prior to and after Lebaran, which will fall on September 10.
Garuda Indonesia will add 2,200 seats on its Jakarta-Singapore route alone, by switchin to Airbus A330-200 aircraft, from its regular Boeing B737-800. Frequency will, however, stay at six a day.
Indonesia AirAsia will add one flight per day between September 7 and 19.
