Haneda Airport's new terminal to herald improved air access

Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines have announced additional flights to the new terminal, in addition to existing services to Tokyo's Narita Airport.

Toyko International Air Terminal vice president of corporate planning, Yoichi Hirai, told TTG Asia e-Daily that more international airlines will progressively announce new services to the new terminal at Haneda Airport, offering more connections between Tokyo and Malaysia, Thailand, France, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada and the US.

Services from China are currently under negotiation.

Susan Ong, Singapore manager for Japan National Tourism Organization, said additional flights to Haneda would enable Japan to achieve its arrival target of 10 million visitors this year, and create more traffic to other parts of Japan through the new Tokyo gateway.

The new international terminal is equipped to handle 30,000 flights and seven million passengers a year. Spanning 154,000m2 over five floors, the terminal has 96 check-in booths, with dedicated counters for group check-ins. It is able to process 1,700 passengers per hour at the check-in counters.
